About the Role

We are looking for a qualified Art Teacher to join our passionate and skilled team to cover maternity leave for one academic year. This role is ideal for someone who is dynamic, committed and enthusiastic, and who is keen to make a real difference in the lives of our young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging and creative Art lessons across Key Stage 3, 4 and Sixth Form

  • Planning and assessing lessons for GCSE and A Level Art in line with curriculum expectations

  • Supporting students’ artistic development while responding to individual learning profiles and needs

You will need to demonstrate the following essential and desirable criteria. Please address these in your application:

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Excellent subject knowledge and experience teaching Art at GCSE and A Level

  • Experience of teaching in a mainstream secondary school

  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons to neurodivergent learners

  • A flexible, creative approach and willingness to contribute to all areas of school life

  • Resilience and ability to work under pressure with young people who may present with complex needs

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children and young people with Autism, behavioural needs or mental health difficulties

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, therapeutic or neurodiversity-affirming educational practices

  • Familiarity with Autism-specific approaches or strategies

  • Experience in a specialist setting or independent school

  • Interest in interdisciplinary and cross-curricular teaching within the creative arts
